I'm Elise Greenspoon, and I'm really looking forward to meeting you.
I am originally from Canada but as of 2009 I travel, live, study and teach yoga all over the world. I recently moved to the Haarlem region, and I'm starting to take root in the ground.
I feel very grateful to share my knowledge and experience of yoga with the community here.
I started a daily yoga practice in my freshman year of university in 2005. Going to the yoga studio every day gave me an anchor in my life and gave me a place to find my path and passion.
In 2008 I attended an 8 month yoga teacher training where I was immersed in Hatha Yoga, Yin Yoga, Vinyasa and Kundalini.
At that time I was introduced to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, which felt like I found Cinderella's glass slipper - a perfect fit.
It wasn't long before Ashtanga Yoga took over my life and in 2009 I went on the first of many trips to Mysore, India to study with R. Sharath Jois, grandson of the late Sri. K Pattabhi Jois.
That first trip to Mysore led to countless incredible adventures including meeting my spiritual teacher B. Naga Kumar, learning from many masters of different traditions,
assisting senior teachers in tropical paradises, sitting silent vipassana meditation retreats, and assisting Sharath in 2012, ultimately leading to his blessing to teach the series.
Besides my training and experience in Yoga, I also have a huge passion for and experience in the study of Ayurveda.
I believe the path of yoga is endless, and it seems like the longer I am on the path, the more there is to learn.
But what I've realized over the years is that the best thing about yoga is to be part of a community.
The yoga school is a safe space for everyone - to be who they are, as they are. And for me it is a great honor and privilege to be able to offer and keep people the space to come together.
My intention is to help others feel happier, lighter and more comfortable in their bodies and minds so that they can live their lives with a little more ease.
Sincerely, Elise
